I'm passionate about property and real estate and have been for as long as I can remember – although it took until 2006 for me to realise that I could make it my career.
Over the past 12 years I have been deeply involved in the digital evolution of real estate in New Zealand, as an innovator, a commentator, a leader and as a standard bearer!
In 2006 I was the founding CEO of Realestate.co.nz building the business over the next 6 years into a significant private company operating as the industry-owned property portal and spearheading the emergence of the online platform for property marketing in NZ.
The company was recognised for innovations in digital platform with the launch of the 1st mobile property app, as well as inovative premium advertising and extensive property reporting. The company grew into multi-million dollar business employing 15 people.
I left in 2012 to pursue more global opportunities as CEO of Property Portal Watch as well as founding Properazzi as a platform for analysis and commentary on the digital development of real estate and the real estate market in NZ.
Drawn back to the operational side of property portals I joined Trade Me Property in 2013 as Head of Product, to steer the company to greater success through a ambitious roadmap of products for consumers and agents. Building a team of Product Managers and technical talent I helped grow the business as the #1 property portal in NZ.
After 3 years at Trade Me, I embarked on a new career in real estate. An entirely logical career. With my license as a real estate salesperson I now operate as a salesperson in my local market of Devonport, Auckland applying all of what I have advocated for agents to adopt over the years. I work as part of the Bayleys Real Estate team. I have created a unique hyper-local property market website focused on Devonport providing market commentary and analysis. My personal website is my digital business card for my real estate role.
Commentary & Analysis
I have written and analysed the market and industry extensively over the years on various platforms:
- Founding the Unconditional blog on Realestate.co.nz in 2007 and writing over 700 articles over its first 5 years.
- I created the monthly NZ Property Report whilst at Realestate.co.nz, a unique insight into the supply side of the property market, established in 2009 it has gone on to become one of the cornerstone monthly reports of the property market data in NZ.
- I founded the website of Zoodle in 2009 as new online source of property information about every property in NZ, the business was established with the support of Realestate.co.nz and Terralink.
- I created the Trade Me Property Price Index Report in 2013 – a monthly analysis of the sales and rental market in NZ based on the listings data of the site, this report is now one of the leading monthly reports of the real estate industry in NZ.
I have over time undertaken extensive speaking engagements as well as hosting conferences, having given presentations within the real estate industry and the marketing community on all aspects of digital marketing and the power of the internet to disrupt and reinvent business. I am a regular contributory writer for the The National Business Review. I have articles published in The NZ Herald and Interest.co.nz. As a commentator I have been regularly invited to talk on property news stories on Newstalk ZB, Radio Live, TVOne Breakfast and 3News.
